The department of microbiology has been working from the time of inception of ASAN MEMORIAL DENTAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL 2012 to date.
Microbiology is a broad discipline that involves the study of the biology of bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi.
Microbiology also concerns with a branch called immunology which deals with the defense mechanism of the body and the way our immune cells fight against the pathogenic microorganisms.
The main focus of our course is the pathogenic potential of the organisms that cause disease in man.
We also cover aspects of biochemistry, physiology, and genetics of microorganisms.
Recently, our knowledge of how microbes function has expanded enormously, both in the disease process and at a molecular level.

In the general hospital, ASAN MEMORIAL DENTAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL, immunisation campaign for Hepatitis B was conducted by Dr. Auxilia Hemamalini Tilak M.D, for the ASAN MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY students and it was held successfully during June 2012.
During 2012, she also catered to the needs of many outpatients in the general hospital over a period of 8 months from January to August 2012 and we are proud to say we catered to the needs of about 20 patients every day and thus established the general hospital during 2012. The whole department helped with the outpatient.
We also did a pilot study in order to correlate the microbial incidence of dental caries and obesity pattern among the school children of government primary school and it was successful.
Our students had participated in numerous conferences conducted by various institutions and they had presented paper and posters and won awards for the same.
Adding to our credentials we have publications of numerous review articles indexed in multiple international journals.
