At Asan Memorial Dental College, we recognize the significance of research and the immense need to produce high quality theoretical and methodological-oriented research that makes significant contributions to academic and clinical practices and advances.
We seek not only to contribute to the existing scientific evidence, but also to make certain that our work influences policy and impacts the oral health and well being of both individuals and populations.
Our Research curriculum encompasses a broad range of fundamental, translational and clinical themes which underpins our teaching, strengthens our knowledge base and informs the advancement of clinical excellence.
Students independently choose a topic of their interest and present a proposal of their research project. They are also given the liberty to choose the guide under whose guidance they would like to conduct the research project.
The Department of Anatomy is conducting research projects in collaboration with the Department of Genetics, Dr. A. L. M. PGIBMS, Taramani, affiliated to the University of Madras.
The Department of Pharmacology has been carrying out research in the CSIR-CLRI (Central Leather Research Institute) National Laboratory, Adyar, Chennai since 2014.
The Department of Physiology of our institution has been collaborating research projects with the Department of Physiology of Dr. A. L. M. PGIBMS, Taramani, affiliated to the University of Madras.
The Institutional scientific review committee is a dynamically functioning body with four qualified, independent, medical and non medical members. This committee serves as both an IRC and SRC. It makes certain a competent review of scientific and ethical aspects of the study proposals is carried out.
The responsibilities of the committee members is to ensure the protection of the rights, safety and well being of human subjects involved in research study and to provide public assurance of that protection, by, among other things, reviewing and approving/providing favourable opinion on, the study, the suitability of the Investigator(s), the methods and material to be used in obtaining and documenting informed consent of the study subjects.
